Model DS-8

DS-8 Stand is designed for laser diode long-time tests. The stand provides simultaneous operation of eight independent channels. A set operating temperature in each channel is maintained with the help of Peltier microcooler. Forced air cooling is provided by built-in fans.

The main unit composition

• Push-button control panel
• Liquid-crystal display indication of the following parameters:
  LD set and actually measured current values
  LD set and actually measured temperature
  Each LD measured optical power in relative units
  Thermistor calibration parameters in each channel
• LED indication
• LD protection

Push-button control panel provides

• Independent current adjustment of the channels in the range of 0 ... 6.0 A
• Accuracy of the LD current adjustment: 0.01 A
• Accuracy of sustained LD current: 1 %
• Adjustment of temperature in each of the LD channels in the range of 0 ... + 60 °C
• Accuracy of sustained LD temperature: 0.1 °C
• Switching each of the laser diodes ON and OFF independently

Liquid- crystal display shows

• Set and actually measured current through the laser diodes
• Set and actually measured temperature of the LD heatsink
• Measured optical power of each LD in relative units
• Thermistor gage curves in each of the channels

LED display indicates

• Readiness of the channels for operation (green LEDs)
• Operation of the laser diodes in the set mode (red LEDs)

Protection of the laser diodes against

• Peaks and drops of the network power supply
• Breaks and shortages of the LD circuit
• Thermo-stabilization circuit failure

Connection to IBM PC

• Separate setting the parameters for each laser diode (current, temperature, maximum current)
• Keeping the trace of LD current, temperature, voltage, photodiode signal, operating time n in each of the channels
• Continuous graphical and numeric (in tables) presentation of the channel data (temporal and watt vs. current plots for the laser diodes)
• Switching each of the channel (or group of channels) ON and OFF, with independent time tab
• Storage of all data
